We Stars That Shine Here Below

We stars that shine here below
Each in our own cocoon of hope
Glow

We reach-

for stars that are beyond our attainment
We lose ourselves
In the gain for fame
The need for acceptance
The search
For love-
We run

We stars that shine here below
Glimmer
With each step that we take forward
Towards our destiny;
With each breath we
encroach upon our hearts desires
Seeing only possibilities

We shine,
for dreams revealed in the light of morning
We weep,
for the shadows of the past that slow our steps
We laugh,
at the naivety of love
We stand:
On the walls of justice and cry “Peace”

We stars that shine here below
Reflect rays no galaxy can match
Our hearts pulsate the strength of a thousand suns
Our lips speak the wisdom of ancient kings
Our eyes see only the vision of a new horizon

 And we Glow

We stars that shine here below

I will not fold up my light for you

I will not fold up my light for you

I will not fit myself into a neatly covered package
which you can parade as if some way to say:
"Hey look- I made it!"
Trophy wife, trophy life
Trophy woman, trophy girl
Trophy shiny
Trophy world

I will not light your lamp
Just so that you can find your way
to that place
where you are king
and then

Douse my light once you get there,
Having no further use for it.

No, son
No, father
No, brother
No, uncle
No, lover

You will not take my light away.

" This little light of mine- I'm gonna let it shine"
" This little light of mine- I'm gonna let it shine"
" This little light of mine- I'm gonna let it shine"
" Let it shine, Let it shine, Let it shine."

I will not be a man's light if it means I remain in darkness.

If the rays of truth are kept from me
and the dawn of my being
left unilluminated
by the breath of your convenience.

For, I have stumbled too long in the silence of your shadows
And I have eaten my last meal in the darkness
In the absence of your heart, your love
So, if this is load-shedding,
Then I am shedding my soul of this load

See, I am not afraid of my own darkness. For I know it.
Nor am I  afraid to light up the whole world. It is waiting...

But,
I will not unfurl to light the wick.
Knowing that you will be quick to
Douse the flames
Once you have reached your destination.

You will not steal my light.

I will not fold up my light for you
I will not fit myself into a neatly covered package
which you can parade as if some way to say:
"Hey look- I made it!"

No, you will not take my light away.

" This little light of mine- I'm gonna let it shine"
" This little light of mine- I'm gonna let it shine"
" This little light of mine- I'm gonna let it shine"

" Let it shine, Let it shine, Let it shine."

The Course of Life

The Course of Life

The course of life flows momentarily

Through the streams of hope, rivers of doubt, fountains of youth

And valleys of truth

Until at last, emerges a wealth of belief

In the ocean of understanding

Realising the effect of worn out boots on a cold, wintry morning

Or the smell of hot, steaming coffee after dinner

Cannot fully begin to immortalize the exotic flavors of life

Life is not a destination, but a journey

With so many intrusions, confusions

We must protect our souls from illusions, delusions

And yet through destruction, waste and war

We rise up, revived, renewed and ready

To conquer all that stands before us, and behind us

With what lies within.

"KREE^AZION"

Bang!

I was created with one purpose in mind

To fulfill my destiny and be a sign in these times

Created to live a life filled with equal opportunity

Not racism, violence and fear- this is all so new to me?

There’s so many moments that make life worth living

Like- waking up each morning with your body still intact

Letting your family’s love fill you with warmth is just a fact

That concludes God’s favour over your soul

Allowing you to call these humble walls home

Stepping out into the day, you pray

No harm may come to all who choose to call themselves your friends

And stand tall

While still remaining close to heart

You soak in words from your soul mate, hoping never to part from-

LOVE

This is what makes life worth living

It’s not all about taking, there’s got to be some giving

Of your time, money, an open ear, a tender heart

To some soul reaching out for a hand in the dark

Don’t discriminate against what you just don’t know

Educate, evaluate

Aids is no longer on show

Be real about how you feel

I feel it’s best to wait

Put that ring sir on my finger, before you can eat off my plate

And if you think it’s too late; better guess again

For after sunshine there must come rain

Thus from the cycle of life there can be- no refrain

So live and be loved by this life you’ve been given

And when it’s all over I’ll see you in heaven

Remembering that when all this fades away

You’ll have the guts to be like Bond and say:

“Come life! I’ll gladly Die another day!”
